As the temperatures cooled down, our season did not! It was another exciting month of happy couples and beautiful brides!

Kasey & Kevin

What can I say?! It was love at first sight when I met Kasey & Kevin… and I was beyond excited that they chose The Winfield for their big day. Everything about their wedding screamed “this is SO Kasey & Kevin” including the love bird cake topper with matching glasses.

Kristi & Kyle

Kristi and Kyle came in for their first tour, and I had to take a step back… what do ya know, I know Kyle! He and I worked together in college and I was so excited to see that he was engaged to such a beautiful girl! They complement each other perfectly :) One of my favorite details to their ceremony were the “5 things you should know about him and her” cards. It added some fun and helped get the guests talking. Too cute!

Rachel & Taylor

The best man said something during his toast that I have to 100% agree with; they have the ability to uplift you and make you feel like your best friend and the most important person in the world after only knowing them for a few minutes. It’s such a special trait that I feel blessed to have witnessed.

Karli & Brian

We have had the pleasure of knowing Karli for many years now and we were SO ecstatic that we were able to be a part of this day. The centerpieces by Rosehip Flora were stunning as always and the ballroom glowed (literally!!) with the fabulous fiber optic lighting and BLING that topped the tables!

Sarah & Hector

This family affair was a beautiful vision of pink and brown with sparkles everywhere. The group danced the night away with Al from Texas Old Town and enjoyed the always fabulous Simon Lee strawberry & cream cake.

Nancy & Donny

Details, details, details! And they were all beautiful! Donny’s mom, Ann, had helped Nancy and I in a great deal of the planning and everything came together perfectly the day of. She has an amazing eye for décor! The best part is that at the end of the day, everyone was so happy. That’s exactly what it’s all about!

April & Watson

I have never laughed so hard during a rehearsal! These two will be laughing for the rest of their lives!! I wish I had the words to describe how much I enjoyed them, but I can only find 3… just-plain-awesome. The whole night was full of excitement; from a surprise Mariachi band to a surprise Car2Go get away! Oh my goodness… just-plain-awesome.

These two have such a contagious joy about them, I literally smile every single time I received an email, phone call or just thought about this sweet couple. I would have to say that my favorite décor item of the night was a personally designed bobble head cake topper… does not get much better than that. We love you two!!

Classic beauty all around for this wedding. Gretchen wore a stunning 1920’s inspired dress that resembled the beautiful Marilyn Monroe. Floral was timeliness with the always fabulous Melanie from Last Petal.
Gretchen & Matthew were also featured on Style Me Pretty! Her classic style and beautiful photos provided by Addison Studios earned them this spot... ENJOY!

Jean & Bob

It was Jean & Bob’s 50^th anniversary this year and they decided to go BIG! They invited 100 of their closest friends and family to share this exciting occasion. Can you believe it… 50 years?! Their relationship is what each of us strive for. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Andrea & Ronny

These two are absolute sweet hearts! Even with Ronny’s tough, police exterior, he is one of the most kind hearted people I have met. He and Andrea were so calm and just so excited to be married. It was one of those nights where you really can feel the love in the room.

Jessica & Weston

If a smile could turn away rain, it would be hers! It had rained off and on ALL day long and it was a true gamble as to whether or not the weather would hold for their ceremony. Sure enough, Jessica said, “You know what, I’m a gambler, so I say let’s do it!” and low and behold… the sun came out. I will forever remember her sweet mom coming back to the house after the ceremony and shouting, “Thank you, Jesus!” It was perfect.

Judy & Josh

We’ve seen dried flowers, real flowers, candles, and so much more. But never have I ever seen edible centerpieces. It was the BEST idea!!! Edible Arrangements brought gorgeous centerpieces for the guests to not only enjoy looking at, but also enjoy indulging in. Oooh the chocolate covered strawberries looked wonderful :)

Nicole & Michael

What can I say… these two are STARS! Nicole & Michael live in L.A. while they pursue acting careers and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store. They are animated, energetic, *gorgeous*, funny, and down to earth all at the same time. They’re wedding weekend was just plain FUN!

Kristin & Dave

I couldn’t imagine anyone sweeter. Kristin has a heart of GOLD and David (Dave) is her perfect match. We looked forward to her emails every single day! Their wedding was filled with personal touches, and fine tuned details, from the ceremony all the way through the reception.

Jennifer & Kyle

I could say so many wonderful things about this couple, like her great sense of style, his modest musical talent, their obvious love for each other, and their genuine care for everyone else. BUT… I have to talk about their menu ;) I remember from our very first meeting that they wanted comfort food, something that resembled a Thanksgiving meal. Well… one word… YUMM!!!

I always say that you should show off your personality in your wedding and they did exactly that! Erin’s brother created their wedding design and used it on their favors (super cute coozies) and the invitations. They also took their love for science and animatrix into their centerpieces. Each perfectly placed figurine also had a special meaning to their relationship, which the guests were all in-the-know about. I love it!!!

Laura & Will

Laura and Will had one of the greatest “first glance” pics that I have ever seen. They did not want to actually see each other, just touch each other hands… so sweet. Laura was cutely biting her lower lip the entire time as they backed up step by step on the front porch. This was perfectly followed by a sunset ceremony by the oaks and a gleaming ballroom filled with glowing mason jars. Such a lovely wedding to end this amazing month.

Hello Winfield followers! I hope you are all enjoying this much needed change in temps as much as we are… whew! Thanks to the rain and our talented team of groundskeepers, the property is looking as beautiful as ever.

We hosted some fabulously detailed weddings throughout the month of September and want to share some of our favorite pieces of their perfectly orchestrated events. Now I could write a novel about each one, but I’ll do my best to keep it short ;)

Alisa & Jim

Everything about this wedding screamed Alisa & Jim!! My favorite was the homemade BBQ sauce that her sweet dad is famous for. They were the perfect party favor in mini mason jars and tied with twine.

Therese & Jess

Oh the food… YUM! They had a fun and unique spread of appetizers to greet their guests after the ceremony. Assortments of Spiced Nuts & Flavored Popcorns were wrapped up in decorative blue cones to match her Royal & White wedding!

Judi & Sean

The cocktail! Judi had the perfect drink (and snack) waiting for her guests at the bar… a Cotton Candy Martini! Here’s the recipe:

1) Cotton Candy

2) 1 oz of Sky Vodka

3) 1 oz of Sprite

4) ½ oz of Triple Sec

5) 1/8 oz Grenadine

a. Shake & Chill

b. Pour over the cotton candy in the martini glass and watch it turn into a beautiful pink drink!

Danielle & Adam

Event coordinator by trade, Danielle made sure that everything was a true reflection of her and Adam and showcased a perfect example of what a classic hill country weekend wedding should be. The food was out of this world and hand selected by the fabulous couple:

Two things… her place setting and her hair piece! I love the detail in her place setting; a napkin really can add that extra pop!

She also (unfortunately) left her veil at home, but had spotted an antique brooch in one of our cabinets. She fell in love with it and it became the perfect substitute (and her something borrowed!)! Also added that extra little bit of sparkle that every girl loves ;)

Aryn & Jacob

Aryn and her team of fabulous coordinators have been working on every last detail for months. From the food, to the linens, and to the signage placed around the property. The final product was a masterpiece!

They also created a menu based on their roots, American and Cajun, tossed in a little Tex-Mex, and it was A-mazing! Guests could take anything from Chili Con Queso, Homemade Guacamole Salad, Angus Beef Sliders with a tiny American flag, Shrimp Etouffee, Red Beans & Sausage, Chicken Tenders, and sooo much more. Let’s just say no one left hungry!

Elizabeth & Aaron

COLOR, COLOR, COLOR! Paper lanterns, parasols, wild flowers, and satin fabrics filled the Garden Ballroom with vibrant colors. The table linens were your classic white, which made each and every piece stand out beautifully!

The next morning they invited many of their guests back for a tasty brunch. I have always loved when couples do this because I think it’s such a personal way to say thank you to your guests.

Robin & Ryan

DIY fabulousness! Yes, fabulousness is now a word and still doesn’t begin to describe how creative Robin is. I’ll have to just let the pictures speak for themselves on this one, but know that she designed and created everything herself.

Doesn’t this just make you want to take a deep breath and relax on our front porch?!

September was such an exciting month and we are honored to have been a part of each of these weddings. You are all beautiful couples with caring, sweet, and supportive families. Thank you so very much for choosing to share your special day with us.

School: St. Edward's University
Plans after graduation: 1st order of business would be to volunteer in Africa after graduation followed by going into the wedding and events industry and/or hospitality management geared towards banquet and/or sales and marketing. :)
Favorite part of the internship: Every single part of it has so far been a learning process, always something new! Lastly, I love the feeling at the end where the bride and groom look the happiest ever; it’s so rewarding!

Plans after graduation: I have already graduated, but plan to continue to learn about the Events Industry. I would like to become a Wedding Coordinator, as well as branch out into Corporate and Special Events. My long term goal is to be the owner of a consulting agency.

Favorite part of the internship: The best part of this, is the interaction with the bride and groom. I love being able to assure them that everything will be taken care of, and this is one of the best days of their lives. It's so rewarding to hear the sigh of relief and "thank you" as they take their final steps to becoming married. Their smiles are priceless.

Plans after graduation: Work in the hotel industry to become a manager some place tropical!

Okay, so I thought you all would get a kick out of this and please share with Jodi and Matt if you think they will enjoy. Below is a response we received from one of our close friends when we sent him a copy of our proposed menu for the wedding (we have only shared it with a few individuals). He actually is an editor for the San Marcos paper and is quite the writer, always seems to have me laughing. This one had me rolling with laughter, visions of him walking down Scott St. with a bib and to-go box in hand.

“As someone who really likes to eat, I'd like to reaffirm our reservation to your upcoming wedding. Thanks.

You two have flat-out blown me away with your food menu. Even if I kinda thought both of you were proverbial jerks (which I don't), even if I had to walk to Kyle, even if I had my stomach stapled down to a two-inch radius or was under a fasting ritual from God, and I saw that menu, I would be at your wedding with bib in hand ready to gorge myself. I like food, and that menu kicks major butt.

Seriously though: The menu looks absolutely phenomenal. Every item it seems has a special touch, and there's nothing in there that would equate to something people are "used" to seeing at a wedding. It's obvious that a lot of special attention was paid to picking out each selection. I have visions of truffle mac and cheese dancing around in my head.

I also love, regarding the alcohol menu, that everything offered is from Texas, offering support to some great local products.

What can I say? I'm super jealous of your wedding menu!

I can't believe June is already here and now it's time for the summer extravaganza!

If you are recently engaged or perhaps just tying up a few loose ends, come join us at Palmer Events Center this Sunday for the Bridal Extravaganza! Many of Austin's MVP's of weddings will be there, showcasing their talent and offering some fabulous specials (including us!).

The Winfield Inn was absolutely amazing throughout the whole wedding planning process! Robyn and April always promptly responded to my questions and were full of suggestions! Robyn was just perfect in setting up appointments for me to come look at the venue... several times before the day of the wedding... just so I could make sure I had the layout of everything clearly set in my mind. April and Robyn were always upbeat and willing to do anything to make our day special.

The food was EXCELLENT, and they even made a special meal for me due to dietary restrictions!

On the day of the wedding, the Winfield staff set up all my decorations and details perfectly! I worked really hard on every single detail including endless nights of DIY project... and I have to say I had reservations about others setting up my vision. However... as soon as I walked into the ballroom on the day of the wedding, I was just blown away by how beautiful they made everything!

The Winfield Inn is a perfect spot for your wedding. We loved every single second of ours... and it's all thanks to the ladies at the Winfield. They took care of every single detail on our wedding day, so I could relax with my bridesmaids and not have to stress about anything. Our cake had been set out in the heat, and the flowers started melting off the sides (my mom was freaking out). No worries! The Winfield to the rescue! They brought it inside the house and fixed the flowers, and it was back to looking absolutely perfect when we cut our cake! I didn't have to stress out about it at all because I knew they would take care of it! I am an extremely high-strung person... but I was the calmest bride on my wedding day... thanks to the Winfield staff!

You girls did a fabulous job at getting our wedding together, and with not much time to do so and everything was wonderful. Our families and friends just loved the place and everything it provided. It absolutely took my breath away when we drove up Friday and the pictures there turned out fantastic! Your place is truly a dream location and we would love to come back often to just stay for the weekend. I had my dream wedding at The Winfield Inn and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. April was so calm and helped so much and did a great job on our wedding day. Holy moly I feel like we have been gone forever... we all had an amazing time with our families and friends, but are SO excited to be back in the office and planning for your big day!

We have some very exciting things happening around here, such as painting, gardening, scrubbing... you name it, we're doing it! And it's all so we can be prepared for this incredible new year.

"They Made My Dreams Come True...

I wanted a very unconventional menu, including a family recipe. After our first tasting there were a few things that needed to be tweeked, especially the family recipe. After working with our onsite coordinator and the Chef, HE NAILED IT!!! Our friends and family were blown away by the food and went out of their way to praise the menu. I could not have hoped for a better experience than what I received at The Winfield Inn. Not only is it one of the most beautiful and serene places that I have ever seen, but the staff there is impeccable. The team at The Winfield was always available for questions, they flexible with meeting times, and their Chef was incredible!!! I cannot speak more highly of group of people, they are truly wonderful."

"Smooth sailing, from booking through the reception...

If you only plan to get married once, this is the place to do it. The Winfield is enchanting, and everything from the lush grounds to the twinkling lights and stately open-air ballroom give new meaning to "Southern charm." You can seat equal amounts of people -- around 500, I believe -- outside under the gorgeous oaks or under the outdoor ballroom, which features a beautifully spired ceiling and crystal chandeliers. This is what really wowed us on our first visit. On top of its incredible beauty and ambiance, the Winfield has some of the most amazing coordinators helping you during the entire course of planning. I can't speak for other coordinators since this is the only time I've been married, but the genuine willingness to provide excellent customer service comes so naturally to April, Robyn and the rest of the Winfield staff that I wonder if some people are just born to be excellent wedding coordinators. I exchanged at least 100 emails with them, and they always responded within hours or minutes of receiving them. They always have a recommendation at the ready, and no question is off limits. My husband and I wanted a simple wedding that fit within our budget, and the Winfield was so accommodating to both. We used minimal decorations and let the grounds speak for themselves, and our guests still commented on how beautiful everything was. Finally, on the day of the wedding, I never stressed about anything. The Winfield staff knows weddings, so they took everything we brought in boxes and set it up without any instructions. And guess what? It looked better than I could've imagined. All we had to do was wait for the ceremony to begin and wait for our coordinator to tell us what came next. The night flew by blissfully, and we managed to stay on track the entire time. I can't say enough about how stellar the Winfield Inn truly is. What special memories they helped us make!"

The Winfield Inn family would like to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving! As we approach the holiday season we cannot help but get excited about all that 2011 has in store. Not only do we have some amazing weddings to look forward to, but we are also doing some great things to The Winfield itself. If you visit The Inn in the next month or two, you will see us painting, building, moving, hauling, and sooo much more! We have a great staff that puts their whole heart and every muscle into this place and that is what we are thankful for today.

2011 will also be our 10th anniversary! The Winfield Inn has seen so much growth in the past decade and who do we have to thank for that? YOU! Without the support of our couples and their families, we could not do any of this.

So thank you to our Winfield family and our amazing couples. We have a great thing going here and have nothing but more great things to look forward to!

Jordan... oh Jordan.. where do you I begin???!!! Hmm… how about DRAMA… in the most amazing way. You took the peacock theme to a completely different level and we were in love with every single second of it. It all started with a peacock feather in your invitations which was just enough for the guests to go “huh?” Little did they know that they were being invited not only to the fabulous joining of you two beautiful people but also to a peacock filled fantasy!! Everything from the peacock feather placemats, homemade jellies with peacock feather and then to the centerpieces that brought everything together. Oh and your dress… well, should I say DRESSES!! And do not think that I forgot about your stunning crystal shoes that you spent 80 hours making yourself!!! You rocked it girl in the very best way!!!

"Planning a remote wedding is not an easy feat but working with the wonderful staff of the Winfield Inn made our year long engagement a breeze. They were always attentive, kind, and very considerate of our time and needs especially when it came to dealing with time zone differences and balancing competing priorities from other family members. The wedding day itself couldn't have gone any smoother and I couldn't have had a sounder peace of mind because I knew I could relinquish all control of the details over to the staff and it would be the smoothest of transitions. Each time I visited the Winfield Inn's grounds, I was taken aback at how green and vibrant the property was no matter which season I chose to visit. For anyone who has ever wanted an outdoor wedding but desperately needed the security of a covered reception space (Austin weather can change on the drop of a dime), their garden ballroom is a beautiful balance of merging flora with a resonating space of vaulted ceilings and chandeliers that made the evening dream-like. The Winfield Inn staff couldn't have been more helpful in providing recommendations for vendors such as florists, musicians, bakeries (we did pie!). We had so much freedom crafting our menu with the chef and although I personally didn't get to taste too much of it (brides you truly never sit down for more than 5 minutes), it was one of the many highlights our guests raved about. After all was said and done, simply staying in the house itself after the reception was exactly what we needed. It was quiet, restful, and we woke up the next morning in the stillness of the countryside. "

Ohhh where do I begin with these two :) They came to us about four months before their big day, not engaged quite yet, but over the moon with happiness and excitement about planing their wedding. We fell in love with them immediately because, well, how could you not? They’re gorgeous, sweet, and again, over and beyond the moon! With lots of planning in a short amount of time, they had a spectacular wedding.

Bouquets of Austin provided gorgeous arrangements for each table with all the wildflowers that Katy had dreamed of, parasols were set at the ceremony site for shade (and cute pics!), crossword puzzles were available for each guest with fun facts about the couple, and many more details were all in place to show off their unique personalities!

Oh where do I start with these two… well first I would like to say CONGRATS!!! Every time they came to The Winfield they looked more and more in love. I know, it sounds cheesy, but I only speak the truth! They were so happy to be getting married and celebrating the day with everyone close to them. As all the vendors arrived that day the details quickly came together. Joy had an idea to have 13 different floral arrangements, all in unique vases, and it looked gorgeous! My little camera doesn't really do them justice... but still... gorgeous!

This intimate wedding of 50 guests brought three of the sweetest people together… Joanna, Lance, and their unbelievably adorable little girl!

After all of the formalities Joanna changed into a super cute white cocktail dress so that she could dance all night long with her friends. They had a blast!!! We loved every second of working with these two. They are just two very genuine people who deserve nothing but the very best.

Whether your Central Texas wedding is a destination or practically in your own backyard, make it feel like a vacation for all of your guests!

- If most of your guests are staying at the same hotel, make a goodie bag of items that are true to Austin. A map, Stubb’s BBQ Sauce, the recipe to a Mexican Martini, Keep Austin Weird stickers, Tyler’s t-shirt, or a package of Kerbey Lane pancake mix are just a few ideas to help get you started.

- Have your rehearsal dinner at your favorite Austin area restaurant! The best thing about this part of Texas is the food, duh! BBQ and margaritas tend to rule this town, so take advantage of it and introduce your family and friends to a place they can’t find anywhere else. Here are a few of my fav’s:
o The Salt Lick
o Z-Tejas
o Threadgill's
o Moonshine

- If you know of guests that are arriving earlier in the week, send them a “Must See” list so they’re not just hangin’ out in the hotel all week! Send them down South Congress to check out the trailers, they can get their exercise around Lady Bird Lake, have dinner and a movie at Alamo Drafthouse, or even venture off into Wimberley for a wine tasting, incredible views, and fun shopping!

They had a beautiful, calm, and intimate weekday wedding. About 50 of their nearest and dearest attended the wedding and it was just such a nice evening!

They all relaxed and enjoyed the wonderful BBQ dinner next to candlelight, danced, mingled, and ended the night… on a bike! This has to be one of my favorite wedding gifts! Right before everyone left for the night one of their friends brought out a bike with a giant bow on the front, so Michael spent the remainder of the evening showing off his skills :)

Thank you both for being such an incredible couple. We could not love you more and wish you a lifetime of happiness! Congrats!!!

What a fun, trendy, and unbelievably sweet couple! I just love these two!!

One of my favorite details from their wedding was the Rice Crispie cake. They ordered all of their sweet sprinkled treats from http://www.thecrispery.com/ and it turned out great! They had toyed with the idea of a donut tower, which I also loved, but this was just so fun. One of the best things about the website is all of the options… definitely worth checking out!! And I loved their people on top, too :)

Their photographer, Jake Holt, was incredible. I had seen some of his work when one of his weddings was posted in The Knot magazine so I was really excited to see what he could do for them. Well let's just start with her dress... STUNNING. I think we should make it a priority to have each bride send a pic of their dress because I want to show it off, but I have no way of proving how beautiful it really was!

Since she works for one of our favorite companies (The Knot!) she had lots of fun and crafty ideas to help bring her bright day to life. Simple things like adding color coordinated ribbon and personalized spice jars make such a difference! She also used dozens of gerbera daisies to add color to her tables. This is a great flower for the spring because it doesn't take many to create the look you're going for. Props to Miss Mindy! Oops... Mrs. ;)

They had such a great time throughout the evening and we are honored and blessed to have been there for it all. You both were gorgeous and glowing all night and we cannot express how happy we are for you. So I guess all that's left to say is CONGRATS!!!

This couple was just so fun to work with. One thing that I really love is when the groom gets involved, because they seem to have such great ideas! Edgar was a blast with the planning and has a great eye, so one of the goals of their final meeting was to find the perfect ceremony location. We've used just about every tree on the property, but the set that they chose I don't believe had been used and it looked AWESOME!! It was just to the right of the gazebo and the trees created a beautiful canopy over all of the guests.

This spring wedding was simply gorgeous. With ivory satin crush linens, candlelight, and the chandeliers in the ballroom, it just looked so elegant. Another aspect of the big day that was very important to them was the food and all I can say is... yumm! Their guests enjoyed a cascade of fresh fruit as well as our delicious Summer Sage Sausage Balls with Fresh Red Apples while the wedding party wrapped up their photos. After entering, the enjoyed the wonderful menu below:

Their friends and family were simply awesome through the entire day! They wanted nothing more than to make their day perfect, and of course they did :) Since they worked so hard, letting loose that night and dancing till the very last song was a must!!

Lauren looked like Cinderella in her gorgeous princess gown. I can only imagine what was going through his mind when he saw her! With her décor, she wanted a bright, spring atmosphere, so she chose white linens and added these orange pin tuck chair ties to add a punch of color. I LOVE this!!

Hip, tasty & something your guests can ALL enjoy!

I would like to take the time to comment on some extra special menus we have created in honor of satisfying our vegan/vegetarian brides, while simultaneously blowing the minds of our carnivorous guests. And who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?!
For some, this presents a conundrum: How does one create the menu of their dreams, who also has what some might consider extra special and unique interests in cuisine choices, while also making a lasting impression on those people, who in the grand scheme of things, whether we want to admit it or not, we want to impress as our guests? Simple, if it’s great, it’s great. There is no negotiation!

Here at the Winfield, we have more than met this request on multiple occasions. We continue to enjoy the expression of surprise from our guests when they bite into a Roasted Vegetable Empandita or Mini Porcini Sami, and they ask, “Really, there is no meat in this?” Or better yet, the guest who goes out of their way to share with us that at every event they are forced to nibble on fruit since just about everything has dairy in it these days; however, for the first time, they were able to celebrate in an entire 3 course menu with the entire menu being dairy free (thank you Fettuccine in the Raw with Basil-Parsley Pesto Sauce)! Our theories, if you know herbs and spices, then you know how to make food taste wonderful. You don’t need to be restricted by certain ingredients. For example, you love Risotto, but you don’t want the cream and butter. Our Risotto Asparagus achieves exactly that and only used with vegetable stock and olive oil. For you vegetarians, who feel like you never get to savor in a “fun pizza”, move over, our Caramelized Pear & Manchego Pizzettes will leave your mouth asking why this is the first time you have met!

In sum, delight the senses with the flavors of your choice; it is your wedding after all. But don’t think your choices have to be a compromise for the satisfaction of your guests. Simple, if it’s great, it’s great! Our Vegetarian/Vegan Menus continue to grow, feel free contact us with your requests.

Beautiful wedding and incredible people… all around WONDERFUL weekend!!!

I know I always say that I can’t wait to get the pro pics, but there’s a reason! We just don’t get the opportunity to get the pics that really show off what these vendors do. Sweet Stuff and Bouquets of Austin put together some beautiful pieces, and I promise to show you as soon as I can! The flowers were beyond gorgeous. Like I said before, this couple and their families were just amazing. They were all so helpful, gracious, and genuine. Then when it came time to party, they were ready! They didn’t stop till the VERY last song.

After that last song rolled around, Morgan and Nathan jetted off to The Driskill for the night while the parents stayed the night at The Winfield.

There are no words. At least not in my vocabulary... but their photographer, Katherin O'Brien, managed to say it all perfectly. So I posted a link to Katherin's blog at the bottom, where you can find all of the AMAZING photos from this day.

First of all, the bride made EVERYTHING herself. Tissue balls, cupcake sleeves, labels, invites, map cards, cans for candles, felt doves... you name it, she did it. And the sweetest part about it is that her sweet hubby was there to help her with everything! The amount of work that they put into their day is just incredible. Then her family and friends insisted on helping us with set up. We usually try to take care of everything for our couples so that everyone else can just relax and worry about getting ready, but they were right out there with us- it was so nice of them!!!

When I walked upstairs and saw Kristen she literally took my breath away. She was absolutely stunning. And the two of them together are just adorable!

All 330 guests witnessed them make this commitment before having to leave for the Air Force. But it can’t be too bad… at least they’re going to Vegas! After the ceremony they had a cake and punch reception, which had both been brought by two of their closest family members. They did such a great job and were SO sweet! Everyone was just happy to be there!

The bouquets, boutonnieres, and alter arrangements were created by Last Petal. I LOVED them! They looked fresh, whimsical, and just awesome.

While we were complimenting and congratulating them on their special night, they wouldn't stop thanking us… totally not necessary but greatly appreciated! After 10 years, Jennifer and Matt had the spring wedding of their dreams! Bright colors, butterflies, and perfect weather made for a wonderful day!
Jennifer wore a vintage lace gown with curls in her hair, and the men cleaned up pretty well, all in classic black tuxedos.

After they cut their cakes, provided by The Sweet Stuff, they danced allll night long! RJ, with Music 4 Life DJ’s did an outstanding job (as always) of keeping everyone on their feet and have a great time!

April found the perfect way to describe her- “Austin-Chic.” First of all, her gown was just gorgeous... I really hope I can snag some pro-pics from her photographer!

She walked arm in arm with both of her parents down the aisle to what else? The Beatles! And her programs were made from a family member's old post card that happened to be dated with their wedding date! I only wish I had that kind of style.
The cakes were provided by Whole Foods... I could NOT help but snag a piece. Oh. My. Goodness. Italian cream cake is pretty traditional and not one that most would remember, but I will never forget that one!!! When they toured back on October, she said that she had been trying to visualize how her wedding would look and that the moment she drove up she knew this was the place she was supposed to get married. It was almost like she dreamed it before she visited. That’s how every bride should feel when they find “the one,” well, the one venue ;)

Winfield Words of Wisdom

Boy oh boy am I ready for SPRING! Sunshine, warm weather, bright colors, and fabulous weddings are calling my name!

Speaking of colors… I recently went to a wedding coordinating/design seminar and came back with pages and pages of notes. If you want some great ideas that are waaaaaay out of my budget, look at http://www.sashasouzaevents.com/. She is the Design God.

One thing that Sasha repeated many times that is now engraved in the left side of my brain, is that “WHITE should be intentional.” I love this for many reasons; first, our ballroom is white, so it’s a blank canvas. You can play off of it with lots of color so that the white actually pops, or you can use it to create a classic, all white wedding.

If you want a lot of color, take advantage of the linen options! There are so many gorgeous ones to choose from! Having a bold linen with a coordinated napkin will make all of the other details stand out that much more… it gives you a reason to have a white chair and a white plate. Here are a couple of pics that I love---

Personally, I LOVE all white weddings. I’m just that hopeless romantic that still watches Father of the Bride every single time it’s on TV and cries. And yes, she had an all white wedding (and awful bridesmaids dresses). So whites, ivories, chandeliers, and candle light are all I need. But even then, it’s intentional.

As I’m sure you’ve all noticed, photo booths are popping up everywhere! And the best thing about them is they can be used in so many ways! You can build your own set up, roll one in, or have your photographer bring their set up. AND… you can use the pics as favors, your sign in book, or just for fun!

Now they’re going even further… the flip book. April and I received flip books of this adorable couple in a goodie bag from an event for The Knot not too long ago and we just thought it was the cutest thing ever! Well now companies are able to set up a photo booth, video you and your friends actin’ all crazy, and print it out right there! GENIOUS!!! What on Earth are they going to come up with next?!?!

I won’t lie, they’re not cheap. But SO cute! If you can do it, I say go for it!!! Next time you’re at The Winfield, ask to see how mine turned out :)

Hi Ladies!

I just wanted to thank you so much for the tasting yesterday! We really enjoyed the food and the opportunity to have a nice relaxing dinner where we could talk about wedding stuff. "Groom" especially enjoyed the food! He raved about it all evening! And at one point during dinner, he turned to me all starry-eyed and said "I can't wait until we're here again in just a few months."

I have been involved in a number of friends' weddings and I can honestly say that I have never experienced a venue and a staff as welcoming and genuinely friendly as the Winfield. This decision has been one of the best wedding decisions we have made.

While enjoying a wintery walk around Lady Bird Lake in Austin last week with my friend Ashley, I wondered aloud "What am I going to make for dinner?" I was hosting a dinner party and wasn't terribly excited about multiple dishes. She suggested chicken pot pie. I realized I had chicken in the freezer; onions, carrots, and celery in the fridge; and butter and flour. I'd make a rustic casserole! Of course the idea became more complex as I drove to the store to pick up a few more items. Grilling the chicken adds a depth of flavor as do the sauteed mushrooms. The canned soup makes a quick gravy and fresh herbs take it from a simple pot pie to a level far above anything you can find in a store or restaurant. Enjoy!

Grilled Chicken and Mushroom Pot Pie with Herb Crust
Serves: 10-12
Prep Time: 1 hour
Cook Time: 1 1/2 hours

Tools:

large saute pan

grill pan

large bowl

food processor

rolling pin

9 1/2 x 12 inch casserole

Tips: Have all your vegetables cut ahead of time and store the cut potatoes in water.

Filling:
6 boneless skinless chicken breasts

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons salt1 tablespoon black pepper
3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cups button mushrooms, 1/2 inch sliced

2 teaspoons salt1 teaspoon black pepper
3 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 white onions, diced 1/2 inch

6 cloves garlic, minced

1 carrot, diced 1/2 inch

2 ribs celery, diced 1/2 inch
2 baking potatoes, peeled and diced 1/2 inch

1/2 cup fresh parsley leaves, rough chopped (2 tablespoons dried)

1 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves, minced (1 teaspoon dried)

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary leaves, minced (1 teaspoon dried)

2 tablespoons salt1/2 tablespoon black pepper

2 10.75 oz cans Campbell's® Cream of Chicken and Mushroom

2 tablespoons all purpose flour

Herb Pie Crust:
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1/2 cup butter, diced

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 cup fresh parsley leaves (2 tablespoons dried)

1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (1 teaspoon dried)

1 teaspoon cider vinegar

1/4 cup cold water

bench flour

Directions:
1) Toss chicken breasts with oil and seasonings, leave out at room temperature while cooking vegetables.

2) Heat olive oil on high heat in large saute pan, when smoking add mushrooms and seasoning. Stir and toss constantly for 4 minutes or until dark golden brown. Transfer to large bowl.

3) Heat butter on high heat in large saute pan, add vegetables and cook for 5 minutes or until they just begin to color. Transfer to large bowl.

4) Heat grill pan on medium high heat and grill chicken breasts, about 2 minutes on each side, just to get dark golden brown color and flavor, not to cook completely. Place in refrigerator to cool.

5) Drain potatoes and add to large bowl. Add herbs, seasoning, soup, and flour. Cut cooled chicken into 3/4 inch cubes and add to bowl. Mix thoroughly and pour into casserole.

6) Pulse flour, salt, and sugar in food processor. Add butter and pulse till crumbly. Add shortening and parsley and pulse till little green flecks are throughout. Add vinegar and water and pulse till dough comes together and climbs the side.

7) Using a little bench flour and rolling pin roll dough out to 1/4 inch thickness in a rectangle that would cover the casserole. Roll the dough onto the pin and then off the pin over the casserole. Trim off excess dough around edges and re-roll. Use a cookie cutter or floured shot glass to cut ornamental "buttons" to place on top of crust. Use a knife to open at least 6 "vents" in the top of the crust.

8) Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place pot pie on middle rack and reduce heat to 425 and bake for 1 hour. Reduce heat to 350 and bake for 30 minutes. Allow to cool at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving.

April and I finished the 3M Half Marathon last weekend! Woohoo!!! You may remember that we walked one in Houston last year while she was pregnant with little Faith, but we were actually able to run this year!

It was April's 2nd half marathon and my first and I won't sugar coat it... it was hard. But SO amazing to reach our goals!!! Now it's time to prepare for the next one :)

December 5th Wedding

Although it was a little chillier than you might expect for an early December day in Texas, our bride was just as happy as she could be! After breakfast we walked the property with her, saw the frozen fountain, and then noticed that everything was still as beautiful as always.

Their favors were too cute… measuring spoons to measure love, a book of matches, and chocolate owls since the groom’s last name is Hoot!

Who says you need to wear a tux all night? These guys changed into their favorite band’s t-shirts right after the ceremony! Love it!

This wedding revolved around three things… sweets, Austin, and their obvious love for each other! She had so many creative ideas, so I’ll do my best to describe them :)

I’ll start with attire: Her vintage dress was beyond gorgeous! No other words, just gorgeous. And her blusher topped it off. And the groomsmen all had Lego cufflinks! So cute!!!

Ceremony décor: Shepherd’s hooks with mason jars filled with crisp purples lined the aisle.

In the Ballroom: The guests walked in and instead of finding their place card they looked for the designated rock candy! She had decorated small trunks with the candies wrapped in purple and tagged with each guest’s name. And instead of table numbers, she assigned each table an Austin Favorite… here are her top 10:

After dinner, her swing dancing friends showed off all night! They also had fun at the “faux-to booth!” They set up a lap top, brought props, and hung fabric from the beams instead of bringing in an actual photo booth!

And finally…. next to the perfectly set candy bar was Amy’s Ice Cream! Then the candy bar was used as the “crush-ins.” Absolutely love it!!! And I had two cups…

It was such a fun day and we are thrilled that you wanted to share it with us. Congrats again!!!

A great menu, awesome 80s music, vibrant colors, and a fantastic couple… I’d call it a good day!!!

Colors:
Splashes of raspberry looked amazing in her linens, centerpieces and cake!

The Sweet Stuff did a fantastic job on her cake as well as his… so fun!
Tunes Across Texas just can’t get enough of us apparently ;) They were back again for another exciting night of dancing!
And Chaplain Larry Todd held a beautiful ceremony under our Oak trees with the sun setting behind them.

The food… definitely a crowd pleaser!

November 8th Wedding

This couple was too cute… she’s a petite girl from California and he’s a true Aggie! And although it rained for the better part of the day, we were able to get everyone into the ballroom clean and dry. The bride walked with her mom and met her dad and groom at the end of the aisle, which was lined with pink petals.

Music for the ceremony was performed by Michael Gratovich. Beautiful as always!

We were so excited to see Carissa Hoopes and her husband Chris! And I took a sneak peek at the pictures… gorgeous! They know the property so well, so they are able to just have fun with it and catch each moment perfectly.

We always recommend Music 4 Life DJ’s, but I had never met Eric until tonight. He did an awesome job! He was very involved with the crowd and very personable!

Food was also very important to this couple, so they chose a wonderful menu and put their trust in Michelle’s Patisserie for dessert J

While the majority of the weddings that take place in the Garden Ballroom are a result of the Plan B, it was this couple’s first choice! The groom even built a platform for them to stand on while they recited their vows… what a guy!

LisaLyn Designs did an amazing job with all of the décor! Votive candles were strategically strung from the beams and pomander balls were draped from shepherd’s hooks and later used in the centerpieces. It all matched perfectly with the brown pintuck linens and orange pintuck chair ties!

After the ceremony the guests helped themselves to an assortment of chips and salsas and then our Signature BBQ dinner… delicious!

Michelle with Sweet Stuff outdid herself with the groom’s cake! Do you see how cute it is?!? Awesome job, Michelle!

And I can’t wait to see all of the pictures from Elizabeth with Vignette Photography! They are on their way, so I will be sure to post them ASAP!

Special thanks to the vendors this weekend, y’all are just awesome.

I guess we’ll start at the beginning… four years ago an adorable couple was married here at The Winfield and it was a gorgeous wedding! Or so I’m told ;) So when we found out that her sister wanted to get married here we were absolutely thrilled! So now, four years later, another adorable couple had their very special day.

April felt like she was practically family at this point, so toasting time came around you can guess what happened… yup… she cried. Everyone kept talking about how infectious her laugh is and how loving and caring they both are. I think I would have cried too. Something that her dad said in his toast really stuck with April was that he wanted to give his daughter two things: roots and wings. Ok, I would definitely cry.

Once everyone stopped crying they had a great time socializing, laughing, eating, and dancing. We are honored to have been there for not only you, but your families as well, from beginning to end. Congratulations and we wish you a lifetime of happiness!

October 31st Wedding

It may have been Halloween everywhere else, but not at The Winfield! This couple recognized the event with pumpkins and other goodies for the kiddos, but opted for an elegant (non-Halloween) wedding. Black, white, and touches of pink were their colors of choice J

The groom had his Dallas Cowboys cake while she had a classic white with fondant flowers cascading down the front and a perfectly matched couple at the top!

They had a variety of favors for their guests to choose from; little bride and grooms candy boxes and coasters with a photo of them inside were placed at each seat. So cute!

Greenbelt DJ’s did an excellent job, as always, of being the MC for the night. They went from one event to the next with ease and then on into the couple’s exit. They stayed here that night so we were able to see them off the next morning. That’s one of my favorite parts J

October 30th Wedding

We have quite a few out of town and out of state couples, but not as many who are out of the country. This couple was planning their wedding all the way from Sydney! They went with a southern/fall theme by using gourds as escort cards, pies as table numbers, home-grown pumpkins placed around the ballroom, and mason jars with daisies to complete the picture. It was all so creative!

After the formal sit-down dinner the guests were able to enjoy their table number with a couple scoops of Vanilla Blue Bell ice cream!

Pumpkins weren’t the only consistent theme this evening… the couple loves traveling and taking pictures, so they prepared a slideshow for their guests to show all the places they had been and then had a photo booth set up for everyone to make their own memories! Say Cheese provided hats, glasses, and all kinds of fun props for them to end up wearing all night!

Byrne Rock, being the fantastic DJ that he is, kept everyone dancing and eventually sent them all away on a 50 passenger bus… including the bride and groom. Needless to say, I don’t think the party ended at The Winfield!

We’re so happy that they had such a wonderful time and we feel honored to have been a part of it! Congratulations to you both and your families!

I absolutely love when a bride takes full advantage of it being her big day. She walked down the aisle in a GORGEOUS vintage gown with layered lace. And her cool, calm, and collected attitude just made it that much more beautiful.

The theme of the reception centered around these two lovebirds… literally. Lovebirds everywhere! Her dried centerpieces were so creative and worked so well with the whimsical feel of the wedding! You can see she added a twist to her wedding cake as well and instead of stacking the tiers, each one had its own stand!

Her friends and family were just as fun and I hope that everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did! Everyone looked fabulous… CONGRATS!!!

Well this was a big one. With a grand total of 350 guests, the dance floor was never empty (but the chairs were), food and drinks were flowing, and the cake was devoured!!!

What really stood out to me about this wedding was the girl’s attire. The bride wore a stunning ivory lace gown with a subtle sparkle and dressed her bridesmaids in sandy-brown satin cocktail dresses. After the ceremony the girls all switched into their cowboy boots and partied away!

I love this story!!! The groom and the bride’s sister came in one day to ask if he could propose to his girlfriend in our gazebo. It was so cute watching him talk about it because he was so excited and just knew that it was the perfect place! Their plan was to have the sister blindfold her in the car and just drive her around and eventually pull into The Winfield. When she arrived there were candles and her nervous boyfriend waiting in the gazebo. He asked and obviously she said yes! In the meantime, their families were watching from inside the house, so they were able to have a small party afterward.

So later he asks what dates we have available because she loved it so much… and I got all excited AGAIN! And if you know me, you know I get super giddy about this stuff. Anyway, we got them all set up and only 3 months later, it was their wedding day!

They went for a very modern theme with candelabras, shades of red, feathers, and crystals. The head table was centered in the ballroom with the dramatic centerpiece that you couldn’t help but be drawn to.

October 18th Wedding

This Boston bride fell in love with Texas when she fell in love with her groom! She matched her tea length wedding dress with white cowboy boots and pearls (love it!), the napkins were folded into flowers to match her sunflower centerpieces, and the guests enjoyed a Winfield favorite… BBQ!

While most out-of-staters don’t know much about Texas Country music, she knew everything! They two-stepped all night to Pat Green, Stoney LaRue, Randy Rogers, and Brandon Rhyder.

To further incorporate the sunflower theme, they had a candle for each guest with a sunflower cut out in the lid and hand painted champagne flutes! Small details like these not only brings everything together, but really shows off her personality.

Congratulations to you both and I hope you had another great reception in Boston!!!

Winfield Words of Wisdom

- Have your rehearsal dinner at your favorite Austin area restaurant! The best thing about this part of Texas is the food, duh! BBQ and margaritas tend to rule this town, so take advantage of it and introduce your family and friends to a place they can’t find anywhere else. Here are a few of my fav’s:

o Z-Tejas
o Loui’s 106
o Moonshine

- If you know of guests that are arriving earlier in the week, send them a “Must See” list so they’re not just hangin’ out in the hotel all week! Send them down South Congress to check out the trailers, they can get their exercise around Lady Bird Lake, have dinner and a movie at Alamo Drafthouse, or even venture off into Wimberley for a wine tasting, incredible views, and fun shopping!

Another day of beautiful weather for this beautiful bride! Too cheesy? Well it’s true. The bride was all smiles, all day! It really was gorgeous and her fall theme added that extra punch of color around the property to make it feel like a crisp October day.

She chose burgundy linens and added touches of burnt orange and ivory in the menu cards, favors, and centerpieces to give that extra pop on the tables. The colors were also added to the gazebo with strips of ribbon that blew in the breeze as they said their vows. Picture perfect :)

Michelle at The Sweet Stuff here in Kyle brought a stunning cake! (photo to the right will say more than I could)

We have been seeing more and more of Byrne Rock, the DJ and MC, lately and hope it continues. He has been fantastic for our brides so far and we have heard nothing but good things from others ever since!

And of course I can’t leave without mentioning the menu… great choice!

This out of state couple envisioned a soft, relaxing, and elegant wedding with their closest family and friends. Since they were all the way in Maine, they put a great deal of trust in us to find the right vendors, linens, menu, etc. and we are happy to say that it turned out as wonderful as could be. While the rain did prevent them from having their ceremony outside, it did help in creating the intimate ceremony that they had dreamed of with candelabras, Amanda Woosely playing the harp, and under 50 guests.

After the ceremony, we went right into cocktail hour and transformed the ballroom into the reception space. We passed an array of appetizers including Coconut Shrimp with Mango Sauce, Bruschetta with Roasted Red Pepper & Garlic, and Asparagus & Crème Barquette, Mediterranean Pizza Wedge.

Each table was set for their four course dinner with a lovely arrangement from Bouquets of Austin and a few votive candles to bring in the romance.

The extraordinary menu included:
Traditional Spinach Salad
with Dried Bing Cherries, Pear Slices,
Caramelized Purple Onions, Goat Cheese
and a Warm Bacon Vinaigrette Dressing.
Lemon Capers & Artichoke Chicken in White Wine
Slow Cooked Filet Medallions with a Rosemary Bing Cherry Reduction Sauce
Crispy Ricotta-Stuffed Risotto Cakes
Rosemary & Garlic New Potatoes
Roasted Asparagus with Sea Salt

And for dessert we satisfied their taste buds with a Chocolate Torte and Fresh Strawberry Shortcake!

After everyone was nice and full the bride and groom stepped onto the dance floor for their first dance, which they had been working on for the last several weeks. They looked so graceful and so happy… we couldn’t ask for anything more!

It was a pleasure working with you both and we are so honored to have been the host of your big day. We wish you the best!!!

Gorgeous day for a wedding! Chocolate pin-tuck linens, fern satin chair ties, and a variety of ivory flowers created such beautiful scenery in the Garden Ballroom.

The ceremony was held at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda with the reception immediately following.
The fabulous Jennifer Nichols came back to see us this weekend and was so generous to send us these photos!!!
All floral arrangements, bouquets, and boutonnieres were provided by HEB. The mixture of arrangements and vases created a very eye catching element to each table!
Precinct Line supplied the assortment alcohol for the evening.
Tunes Across Texas was outstanding as always, keeping everyone out on the floor! They are great to work with, listen to what the couples want, and do an awesome job at feeling out your crowd to create a great flow of events. Props to you!
Cakes by Lori did a beautiful job of creating a classy and elegant cake for her, and the Dallas Cowboys Star for him! I love when the groom takes advantage of the opportunity like this!
Our ladies at Synergy Salon did another fantastic job of pampering our bride and all of her girls J

October 3rd Wedding

This couple booked over two years ago and April grew very close to them through this journey, so let’s talk about it…

Drum roll please…… Texas FIGHT! With a room full of Texas Alum we knew we were in for a good night :) The bride did warn us from the beginning that they would be a bunch of crazy dancers… she wasn’t lying. They had a blast and Jennifer Nichols was there to capture all of the unforgettable moments!

Speaking of unforgettable moments… The Winfield did have a first. If you don’t remember, this was the weekend that the tsunami invaded Central Texas. I know we always say that we have a Plan B, don’t worry, we always figure it out, etc. and have we ever lied? Nope. Two hours before the ceremony, we were in the ballroom pumping, pushing, and squigy-ing water out of the ballroom. And we did it and it was awesome! So we deserve a pat on the back I’d say ;)

So back to the wedding. We will have some professional pics for you soon since we were unable to snag any in the midst of the downpour. In these pictures you will see that her crisp fall colors worked beautifully with the Garden Ballroom and what a fantastic job Bouquets of Austin did… again!

We have also had the pleasure of working with Barrington Miles of Texas Pro DJ’s for the second time. He does a great job of feeling out the crowd to keep a great flow of events! Highly recommended!

All in all, this wedding was extra special to April and while we are sad it’s over, we are happy that they are married and creating a new journey. We wish you the best!!!

With square plates, straight lines, and deep purples two words come to mind, “Modern Elegance.”
Ben White Florist enhanced the Garden Ballroom with these gorgeous arrangements!
Synergy Salon in Kyle pampered the girls all morning so they looked absolutely stunning for the big day!
Red Letter Photography caught every exciting moment and is fabulous to work with!
Reverend Bonnie Connor performed the ceremony. We just love her and so do our couples!
Michael Gratovich welcomed guests with his musical talents during the ceremony.
A-Town DJ kept everyone on their feet the rest of the night! They were wonderful with feeling out the crowd as well as being an exciting MC!
And Precinct Line Beer and Wine provided the alcohol. They are always so helpful and knowledgeable!
The Winfield Inn delighted the guests with an assortment of cakes and torts along with a colorful Latin menu!
