April and Robyn's Adventure!

As we are all aware of by now, April is pregnant!!! So when she randomly asked me if I would like to walk a half marathon with her, needless to say, I was a little shocked. The plan was to walk that morning and attend her first baby shower that afternoon with all of her friends (yea!).

We had lots of energy throughout the marathon and it was awesome! At almost every water station the volunteers were yelling, “Hey, way to go! You’re 1 ½ people today!” This kept us both motivated, especially since I didn’t have an excuse to bail. I have to admit that our feet started hurting around mile 4, but we blame that on being on our feet for 15 hours the day before. We were walking along Clear Lake and it was the PERFECT day, which made it easy to forget that we were walking for 4 straight hours. April and I had one mile to go so we decided to jog across the finish line and man, that felt good! April’s husband, mom, and step-dad met us at the finish line with their cameras ready with everyone around applauding. It felt so good to finish!

After all of that we still had her baby shower to attend. Well that was even more fun because her friends had prepared fun games, finger foods, and a special sherbert punch at April’s request. She opened all of her teeny tiny presents and before we knew it pink was everywhere! She also received some very special gifts from her mom and mother-in-law that made us all cry. April is truly blessed to have such wonderful people in her life!

The whole day was a blast and worth every minute of it! Although we were very tired, I would do it again in a heart beat!!!

March 28th Wedding

Spring is here and blooms are everywhere! With our gardens budding daily (thank you rain!) and the bride’s wonderful spring arrangements, fresh spring colors filled the ballroom. The groom's brother and family scattered petals on anything that they could find as well as adding arrangements on each table. The final product was truly stunning. The bride’s mom also stitched the bride’s and bridesmaid’s initials on a handkerchief that was wrapped around a vase for their bouquets. What a fun idea?!

To add to her detail filled event, she and her new hubby asked a close friend, Lonnie Key with Texas Connection, to be their entertainment for the night. They did an outstanding job entertaining the guests and playing great music! The groom even pulled out his harmonica at one point… talk about talent!

The menu that night is one of my personal favorites because it’s extremely satisfying and looks incredibly decadent on the plate:
Pesto Toasts
Chicken with Dijon Brandy Cream with Mushrooms
Summer Sage Sausage Balls with Fresh Apples
Garlic & Parmesan Mashers
Organic Mixed Greens tossed with Strawberry Wedges, Granny Smith Slices,
Candied Walnuts, Feta Cheese & Lemon-Tarragon Citronette

We hope that everyone enjoyed the night as much as we did and to the newlyweds, we wish nothing but the best! Congrats!!!

March 21st Wedding

We always appreciate the affect of candlelight and this wedding was a magnificent example! Instead of doing floral centerpieces, the couple chose breathtaking rod iron candelabras from Mancino Iron Works. Each table complimented the crystal chandeliers and wall sconces in the Ballroom. The navy Kensington linens were timeless and classic adding elegance to the entire ballroom.

The couple’s menu was a lovely spread of comfort meets Caribbean cuisine with punch of spices and color.
BBQ Ancho Chili & Pineapple Chicken Breasts
Summer Sage Sausage Balls with Fresh Apples
Lemon & Cayenne Shrimp Scampi
Roasted New Potatoes with Rosemary and Garlic
Green Beans Almandine
BLT Salad on Mixed Greens with Spicy Chipotle Ranch

Several times throughout the night, we scanned the Ballroom and could see ALL 250 guests dancing! The entire night the couple stayed hand in hand as they made their way through the crowd and never once lost that wonderful “glow” from being so in love. I know we say it a hundred times but it will never get old, THANK YOU for letting us be a part of such an amazing weekend. The continued opportunity to see people in love every weekend… we really do have the best job in the world!

Congrats!!

March 14th Wedding

Colorful and creative were the two words we heard most throughout the day! “DIY” projects are a fantastic way to add personality and charm to a wedding. These Chinese lanterns were filled with flowers and lit with LED lights and needless to say, we were thrilled with how they turned out! Other colorful touches were the lime green pashminas for the bridesmaids and lime green and black Converse tennis shoes for the groomsmen that were personalized with their initials.

Attire and décor weren’t the only splashes of color in the ballroom… the menu was just as beautiful! The couple chose a complete vegetarian menu that was filled with punches great flavor.

Polenta Triangles, Roasted Root Vegetable K-bobs, Mini Grilled Vegetarian Porcini Samis, Eggplant Fritters, 3 Cheese Creamy Pesto Penne, Garlicky Green Beans with Lemon Zest, and Organic Mixed Greens tossed with Strawberry Wedges, Granny Smith Slices, Candied Walnuts, Feta Cheese & Lemon-Tarragon Citronette.

The pair enjoyed every minute of their day by taking beautiful pictures with Dave of DCM Photography and dancing to a playlist filled with their favorite songs. We would like to thank them again for allowing us to be a part of their day and wish them nothing but the best! Congratulations!!!

March 7th Wedding

Small and personal details were essential for this wedding! A family circle was made during the ceremony to symbolize the unity making it extra special for the little ones. Other fun details were the Made of Honor and Best Man champagne flutes, embroidered Converse tennis shoes for the groomsmen (love it!), and a Texas Aggies groom’s cake!

Décor for the evening was soft and romantic with shades of blue, ivory, and a great amount of candlelight, which is one of the best ways to make a great impact in the Garden Ballroom. Votives with LED lights were also hung from the beams in blue ribbons to accentuate the perimeter of the ballroom and highlight the blue hues used throughout the décor theme. All these details brought together a romantic candlelight aura throughout the Ballroom. The bridesmaid’s bouquets were made of blue hydrangeas. We placed these in vases after the ceremony at the sign in table to further add a punch color. We always say, why not have your aesthetics also have function, first a bridesmaid’s bouquet and next table décor!

Once again, thank you for your incredible presence and we were so honored to be a part of your wedding celebration. Congratulations to the happy couple!!!
