August 8th Wedding

From their first meeting, Angle and Buddy wanted nothing more than a fabulous 1920’s style wedding and when they found The Winfield, they knew it would be the perfect setting. Clean, crisp and classic are three words that described this beautiful summer wedding.

The white damask designer linens that draped the tables were a perfect base for the antique silver vases that overflowed with white roses. They wanted to enhance the lush gardens in the ballroom by bringing in tons of live palms places in decorated urns. It looked fabulous!

One of my favorite things about themed weddings is all the small details that make a huge impact. The 1920’s dressed guests enjoyed candy that was made in the 20’s like baby ruth and double bubble gum and were entertained by bubbly champagne signature drinks. The menu was perfectly light and colorful with lime and cilantro shrimp, petite chicken salad croissants and a lovely salad with strawberries, candied walnuts and lemon tarragon dressing.

Thank you all for letting us be apart of such a beautiful day!

July 19th Wedding

April and I had the pleasure of working with this bride as a group fitness instructors in college, so needless to say we were thrilled when she decided to have her wedding at The Winfield! Her vision of her big day was intimate, classy, and summer inspired. Shades of periwinkle, ivory, and natural greens spread throughout the grounds which complimented the gardens wonderfully!

The bride and groom continued to wow the guests with turns and dips in their perfectly choreographed dance. After the dances everyone enjoyed an incredibly satisfying vegan menu.

Fettuccine in the Raw with Basil-Parsley Pesto Sauce
Asparagus Risotto
Garden Grilled Veggies
Avocado, Apricot & Almond Salad on Greens
And a Fresh Fruit Cascade

Again, thank you for choosing The Winfield Inn to host your beautiful wedding! Congratulations!!!

July 18th Wedding

Let’s be honest… weddings are just fun! Each weekend we are reminded what all of the hard work is for and absolutely LOVE watching the bride and groom let loose! And this weekend proved all of this once again.

The families of the couple were fantastic and really knew how to throw a party! This was a rather large wedding (close to 300) so the couple really had to focus on what was important to them; dancing, dancing, dancing!!! Of course they had a delicious spread of hors d'oeuvres to help build some stamina for the night, but once they got going they didn’t stop. The couple set up an iPod and sound system with the bride’s brother behind the mic. This is an awesome idea that is becoming more and more popular!

For décor, they chose an Ocean colored linen with brown and white accents. Round mirrors and dainty Chinese lanterns were set at each guest table with votives and L.E.D. lights to add some romance. The champagne flutes had been used at the bride’s mother’s wedding and the pillow for the rings was made from her dress. Small touches such as these were added throughout the wedding which just made it all that much more special.

It was a wonderful night and I’m pretty sure everyone couldn’t have had a better time. Thank you all for allowing us to be “a part of your family!” Best wishes, good luck, and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

July 12th Wedding

What did our staff have to say about this fabulous couple?

Jessica:
"There was more dancing at this wedding than ones that I've seen thus far, there was a great camaraderie throughout both parties and it was even great to see Dj Joel translating everything that he said from English to Spanish for the guests that were bilingual. It was a great day that turned into an even better night. We are still raving about it!"

Katie E:
“For their reserved seating they labeled each table with a different YEAR and included pictures of them at that age. For example, the bride and groom's table had the year 2009 with pictures of them on it and tables where there families were seated had the first few years of their childhood with pictures of them at that age. This was such a creative idea to add a more personal touch to reserved seating.

The bride and groom also used a ‘lasso,’ passed down from several generations, at their ceremony to symbolize marriage as the union between two people. Family traditions like this add such a sweet touch to weddings. This is also a creative way to include ‘something borrowed’ into your day!”

Kelsey:
“Victoria and Ramón’s wedding was an exquisite one. The reception tables were filled with extraordinary square plates that added a sensational mood to the evening and guests were long-waiting the bar that had a vast selection of specialty glassware and drinks that Victoria and Ramón chose for their special guests. Victoria and Ramón shocked their guests during dessert time by not only having a wedding cake, but allowing Amy’s Ice Cream from Austin to be included in the wedding festivities!”

Katie H.
“The colors of this wedding were some of my favorites! I loved the way the bride incorporated them into all the small details; the table assignments, the sash's on the bridesmaids dresses, and even the bride and grooms initials hanging on the front door!”

June 27th Wedding

This wedding was filled with some fabulous floral arrangements! Thanks to Bouquets of Austin, our Garden Ballroom and ceremony site were bright and colorful, just like the couple. They weren’t interested in drawing all of the attention to themselves all night with cutting the cake, throwing the bouquet, etc. they simply wanted to have a good time and dance!

When guests walked into our ballroom they were greeted with an assortment of appetizers:
Crispy Poppyseed Wantons filled with Lemon Chicken,
Pesto Bruschetta with Sundried Tomato and Parmagiano Reggiano,
and Crostinis with Roasted Garlic, Red Pepper & Goat Cheese with Balsamic Drizzle

When the bride and groom entered we were ready to surprise their guests with different foods that were sure to excite their taste buds!
Tropical Beef Kbobs with Seasonal Veggies
Petite Turkey Rueben
Summer Sage Sausage Balls with Fresh Apples
Onion & Pear Pizza with Manchego
Greek Pasta Salad with Artichokes, Kalamata Olives & Feta Cheese
Fresh Fruit Cascade
Mini BLT Salad in Tortilla cups & Spicy Chipotle Ranch

The rest of the night The Sophisticates entertained us with their amazing blend of music from each genre. Almost all of the 200+ guests stayed till the last dance so they could watch their friends dart away into their limo.

Congrats again, we couldn’t be happier for you!!!

June 20th Wedding

A weekend full of flavorful food, creative décor, and all around good times is always a great way to start a marriage!

Family and friends used their knowledge from other family members’ weddings to decorate the ballroom by bringing in twinkle lights, tulle, pictures of the couple, and many other colorful pieces. To extend the fun, they chose a “Texas Style” menu consisting of:

Ancho Chili & Honey BBQ Chicken Breasts
Brisket Bites
Famous Winfield Cheesy Texas Potatoes
Winfield BBQ Sauce, Sliced Onions & Pickles
Spicy Ranch Style Beans
Cilantro & Lime Coleslaw
Bacon, Lettuce, & Tomato Salad with Spicy Chipotle Ranch (and Reg Ranch) &

Zesty Croutons
Dressing on the side

The wedding was classic, fun, and just what they wanted! We hope you are enjoying your new life together and wish you nothing but the best! Congratulations!!!

What would we do without our amazing interns?!?

I want to give a very special thank you to all of our summer interns! They are absolutely fabulous and if you have not had the chance to meet them, I hope you will soon J They have all been working extra hard in these Texas temperatures so they deserve a huge applause! I asked them each to fill out a questionnaire so that all of our past, present, and future brides can get to know them.

School:
Texas State University
Major: Fashion Merchandising
After graduation: Hopefully move to Florida and work in the event planning/wedding coordinating industry
Favorite part of the internship: It is hard to pick just one thing! I love the people I work with, knowing we made the bride and groom, their families, and guests happy, and watching the gazebo and ballroom go from nothing to exactly what the bride and groom want!

Kelsey
School:
Texas State University- Senior
Major: Business Management; focus in Hotel and Restaurant
After graduation: I will be graduating from Texas State in May of 2010. I hope to have a “real” job already in place by then, but if not I will be continuing my search. As of now, I hope to acquire a job in the field of event coordinating. I love interacting with people, staying busy, and enjoy having diversity in my day. I could even see myself working in the hotel business as a coordinator of different events.
Favorite part of the internship: My favorite part about this internship is being able to work with such an incredible and compassionate team. All of the staff members at The Winfield Inn are phenomenal and they go out of their way to make your day special! Being able to intern at The Winfield has been an incredible opportunity. There is always something new to learn and I have learned more than I thought I ever would. This experience will leave a lasting positive impression on me, and I thank everyone at The Winfield for that.

School:
Graduated (May 2009!!) from Texas State University
Major: Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication-emphasis in Advertising
After graduation: This summer I’m interning to gain some experience and perspective on what it’s really like to be a wedding planner. After this ends, I hope to get a job in the event planning industry... Yes that’s vague for a reason—I love planning, performing and people (it’s exciting to see how different everyone’s story is), so I’m looking for any job that incorporates what I love, in a city I love! :)
Favorite part of the internship: I have an awesome job, I get to see how many ways two people can celebrate one day: dove releases, henna tattoos, mixing sand, grand marches/dances, the breaking of the wedding glass, a Jewish horah (chair) dance, cards drawn by kindergartners, belly dancing, prayers/readings, and the list only goes on. I’m just excited to be involved in such a blessed time!

Haley
School:
Texas State University – San Marcos
Major: Fashion Merchandising
After graduation: Currently looking for an event coordinator position in the Austin area. The surrounding hill country is too beautiful to leave!
Favorite part of the internship: Getting to work in a place where the staff, coordinators, owners, and clients are all amazing. A lot of hard work goes in to the planning process but seeing the end result and how happy the family and friends are on the big day makes the whole process well worth it.

Thank you all for everything that you do!

June 18th Wedding

The dress. The shoes. The cake. The flowers. They all had one theme… hot pink! Thursday’s bride added fun details to every aspect of her wedding, such as the hot pink sash on her dress, the modern version of a vintage veil, and her baseball themed candy bar. Oh, and who can forget about jumping in the pool!

Throughout the day we watched the bride relax, get ready, and laugh… a lot. She is so full of life that it’s contagious! After the ceremony the guests enjoyed the fabulous candy bar and an oh-so-desirable menu.

Fontina Stuffed Chicken with Prosciutto
Salmon with Lemongrass & Basil
Pasta Primavera tossed with an Assortment of Colorful Roasted Veggies
Italian Caprese Salad with Buffalo Mozzarella, Grape Tomatoes & Basil

Congratulations to you both and may your life continue to be so joyful!

June 13th Wedding

Today we enjoyed a beautiful morning wedding with a brunch style reception to fit the breezy summer morning.

Eggs Béarnaise
Prime Rib with Au Jus
Summer Sage Sausage Balls with Fresh Apples
Goat Cheese & Roasted Red Pepper and Ham & Cheese Bite Size Quiche
Roasted New Potatoes
Garlicky Green Beans with Lemon Zest
Sweet Potato Biscuits with Assortment of Sweet Butters

Petal Pushers arrived early that day to place the centerpieces and they were absolutely beautiful! The bride chose a Periwinkle colored linen with Honey napkins, so the white peonies flowers added the perfect amount of elegance.

The couple left later that day to join their family and friends at their lake house for an “after reception reception”. The following morning they left bright and early for their honeymoon, so unfortunately we did not have the chance to say our farewells. With that said, we hope they had a wonderful time! Congratulations!!!

June 7th Wedding

I would first like to say that this is the first wedding that I have seen from the very beginning to the very end, so this was a very exciting day for me! We are honored and blessed to have such wonderful couples get married at The Winfield, and this couple proved this once again.

It was an intimate wedding of 45, but with all of the love it felt like 100. The Garden Ballroom was decorated with Ivory Damask linens, Lavender Satin overlays, and jaw dropping floral arrangements. The perfect garden menu accompanied their garden themed event:

Balsamic & Sage Chicken
Sicilian Meatballs in Roasted Tomato Marinara
Hot Spinach & Artichoke Dip
Pesto Toasts
Greek Pasta Salad with Artichokes, Kalamata Olives and Feta Cheese

Thank you both for being such an amazing couple! I hope you live a long, happy, and healthy life together. Congrats!!!

June 6th Wedding

A playful rehearsal dinner brought these two families together Friday evening before the wedding with a delicious spread of BBQ! The mother of the groom had also prepared some extra special cupcakes with little chocolate cowboy boots on them (they were so cute!).

The next day the bride and her girls enjoyed a wonderful breakfast; had their hair and makeup done; and had plenty of time to enjoy pictures before walking down the aisle. After the heartfelt ceremony the couple and their guests spent the remainder of the night enjoying each other’s company. An extra fun detail that the couple added to the reception was a homemade Sangria Wine. The guests absolutely loved the fresh fruit flavors!

The couple spent the night here at The Winfield and was able to enjoy another great breakfast Sunday morning before checking out. We thoroughly enjoyed working with you and your families and wish you the best in the future! Congrats!
