A popular theme that is spreading like wildfire is the idea of a “Cocktail Reception.” This is a great way to keep everyone on their feet socializing and dancing to your favorite tunes. So what are some of the best ways to make this theme work? Well I am here to tell you!

First, I recommend renting cocktail tables so that while guests are standing they will have a place to set their drinks or belongings. The number of these tables will depend on your guest count. Also, make sure there are enough chairs for all guests, even if they are not around a table. Even the hardest working dancers will appreciate a place to sit to rest up for the next song!

Next, be sure there are not place settings at the other tables. Having all of your dinnerware next to the serving line will remind your guests that there are no assigned seats. If you would like to reserve tables and chairs for immediate family and bridal party then reserved signs are a must.

Now what do you do about food? Appetizers are the way to go! If your guests can eat everything off of a stick or with a fork then there will be no problems. If you have items that require a knife, then they will definitely need a table. Here are some of my favorites:

My last suggestion is to make a note of this on your invitations. Something simple such as, “Cocktail reception to follow ceremony,” will let your guests know what to expect before they arrive.
