Wondering how much or what kind of alcohol you should have at your wedding? This topic can be very fun, but a little terrifying too. Many of our brides ask these common questions:
Q: How do you know how much to buy?
A: We have learned that a standard formula is 1 drink per person, per hour. This is a great formula because, like everything else at The Winfield, you can customize it! This formula makes up for those who don’t drink at all and those who might drink more. Of course you know your crowd better than we do, but this will get you started! From there you can judge how many of those people will be drinking beer, wine, etc.
Q: Are kegs inappropriate?
A: Heck no!!! It’s kept behind the bar for one thing, so it’s not like your guests are sittin’ there pumpin’ away. It also helps keep the tables clean. When passing bottles all night, the tables can get cluttered if your guests are drinking faster than servers can bus (small joke!). Kegs are often cheaper and if you’re worried about the look, add a bar topper! Crisis averted!
Q: I want to only serve beer and wine, but I’m worried that my guests will want more alcohol.
A: This is your wedding, not a bar. If you decide to go with a full bar, that’s great. If not, your guests should respect the fact that it is your wedding day.
Q: What do you think about a full bar?
A: Being that we are BYOB, often times a full bar only needs to appear full. We suggest buying one type of each liquor and mixers to match, or just a couple of your favorites. And of course I love the idea of a signature drink! Naming the drink after you and your fiancé or matching the colors, décor, or theme are always fun ways to add the personal touch!
